New National Officers Elected
The following active and alumni members have been elected to serve as
national officers for Scabbard and Blade. Due to their positions, they
also serve as the board of directors for the Society's foundation. The
special election was concluded by postal ballots and was concluded April
30. The new slate of officers will serve until the next national
convention.

National
Commander: Brig. Gen. (Ret.) James T. Spivey, Jr.,
is a graduate of Auburn University (Alabama)
where he earned a BA degree in Political Science. He also earned an
M.Div. degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (Ft. Worth
TX) and a D.Phil. degree from the University of Oxford (England). He is
a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and the
U.S. Army War College. He currently is
a Senior Fellow and Professor of Church History at B. H.
Carroll Theological Institute in Arlington, TX. Prior to his appointment
to BHCTI in November 2003, he was Associate Professor of Church History,
Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (1987-2003) and Dean of the
seminary's Houston campus (1994-2003).
He served in theatre
during the Desert Storm conflict.

Deputy National Commander: Army
2LT David Kearns
graduated from Freedom High School in 2006. He was then awarded a 4-year
Army ROTC Scholarship to the University of South Florida in Tampa, and
majored in International Studies. He was
commissioned as an Engineer Officer in May 2010. Following his Basic
Officer Leadership Course, he is to be assigned to the 173rd
Airborne Brigade Combat Team in Bamberg, Germany. His interests include
fishing, physical training, and shooting. |

Chair, Second Century Project Advisory Council: Lt. Col. (Ret.)
Gary Engen, is an alumnus of North Georgia College and serves as Vice
Commander in Chief of the Military Order of World Wars. Lt. Col. Engen
was the moving force behind affiliation of Scabbard and Blade with MOWW.
He is a veteran of the Vietnam War and has served both as a Professor of
Military Science in senior ROTC and a senior instructor in junior ROTC. |

Commander, Alumni Association: Lt. Col. (Ret.) Charles Olsen is
an alumnus of A Company, 1st Regiment, University of Wisconsin -
Madison, who was inducted into the Society in 1987. He previously has
served as advisor to Company A-1 and as the National Alumni Advisor. He
has served as a Professor of Military Science in senior ROTC and is a
veteran of the Global War on Terrorism. |

Executive Director:
Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Douglas Dollar entered the Army in 1968 through ROTC at
Oklahoma State University, and served as a rifle platoon leader in
Vietnam
and as the 5th Special Forces Group training officer before joining the
Army Reserve in 1972. He commanded two infantry training battalions, a
field artillery training brigade, and the 95th Training Division. He
commanded the 80th Training Division from May 2001 to May 2005. He holds
bachelor’s, master’s and doctor’s degrees, and is founder of New Forums
Press, in Stillwater, OK; and, of the Oklahoma Military Hall of Fame in
Oklahoma City. |
