Elmira College Holds Inaugural Induction CeremonyThe Elmira College (New York) ROTC held its first induction ceremony for Scabbard and Blade October 4, 2008, during Parents’ Weekend. The new unit was designated F Company, 22nd Regiment, of the Society. The ceremony and establishment of the new company was organized by the company advisor, Major David Fosdick, United States Army Reserve and Assistant Professor of Military Sciences. Elmira College students are eligible to participate in the Army and Air Force ROTC programs at Cornell University through a cross-enrollment agreement. A special feature of the ceremony was the induction of two distinguished educators as honorary members of Scabbard and Blade. Dr. Thomas Meier, President of Elmira College, and Dr. Stephen Coleman, Associate Dean of Faculty and Associate Dean of Political Science, were presented with honorary memberships in recognition of their support for the ROTC programs at the college.
