William F. Allen

 

Maj. Gen. (Ret.) William F. Allen  (Ret.) enlisted into Scabbard and Blade through M Company, 12th Regiment, University of Texas – El Paso, in 1964.

With over 35 years of commissioned military service, he has served in many important positions during his career. General Allen was commissioned as Distinguished Military Graduate from the Reserve Officer's Training Corps program at The University of Texas, El Paso, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics in 1965.

General Allen's active service includes combat tours with the 1st Cavalry Division and the 9th Infantry Division, as well as flight instructor duty at the Army Aviation School. His combat awards include the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal for valor with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Purple Heart, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, two overseas bars and numerous air medals.

Major General Allen's Army Reserve assignments include command of units at company, battalion and corps level, varied staff assignments, and Commanding General of the 89th Army Reserve Command, among others.

General Allen is a graduate of the Transportation Officers Basic and Advanced Courses, Command & General Staff College, and the U.S. Army War College.

General Allen has also been awarded the Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal with service star, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with hourglass device, the Army Service Ribbon, and the Reserve Components Overseas Training Ribbon. Major General Allen is a Master Army Aviator.

In his civilian career, Major General Allen is a Boeing 747 Captain with Northwest Airlines. He and his wife, Linda Fischer-Allen reside in Woodbury, Minnesota. They have four children.
